Apply for CFJ Human Rights Fellowship 2026: 6-Month Paid Fellowship in Nairobi, Kenya

Admin, July 22, 2026July 22, 2026

Introduction

Applications are now open for the CFJ Human Rights Fellowship 2026, a chance for young changemakers to advance human rights work from the ground in Nairobi.

If you are under 35 and passionate about justice, equality, and defending human rights defenders, the Committee for Justice (CFJ) wants to bring you on board for a 6-month full-time fellowship starting September 2026.

In regions where information on human rights violations is scarce, credible documentation and advocacy can mean the difference between silence and justice. This fellowship places you at the center of that work — monitoring, research, and engagement with African and UN human rights mechanisms.

For young lawyers, researchers, activists, and social science graduates in Kenya and across Africa, this is hands-on experience with an organization that holds consultative status at the UN ECOSOC.

About the CFJ Human Rights Fellowship

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) is an independent human rights organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 2015 by human rights advocates, CFJ supports victims and defenders vulnerable to violations.

CFJ provides credible assessments of human rights situations to the international community, civil society, and policy hubs. Its work focuses on monitoring, documentation, and presenting violations and policy developments where information is limited.

In 2023, CFJ was granted consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), giving it direct access to engage with UN mechanisms.

CFJ’s fellowship builds the next generation of human rights practitioners. Fellows contribute to real projects on documenting violations, gender equality, detainees’ rights, freedom of expression, and civil, political, social and economic rights across different countries.
