The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy Program 2026 is now open for applications, offering a fully sponsored 12-month filmmaking training opportunity for passionate and creative African storytellers. The initiative, powered by MultiChoice Group, aims to nurture the next generation of African filmmakers and strengthen the continent’s film and television industries.

About the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF)

The MultiChoice Talent Factory is a flagship shared-value initiative of MultiChoice Group, designed to educate, empower, and upskill emerging filmmakers across Africa. Since its inception, MTF has served as a platform for developing exceptional creative talent and improving the quality of film and television productions across the continent.

Beyond technical training, MTF promotes entrepreneurship and innovation, preparing participants to become independent filmmakers and creative business owners who can contribute to the economic growth of Africa’s entertainment industry. Through collaboration with government, academia, and industry partners, MTF continues to build a strong creative ecosystem that tells authentic African stories to global audiences.

Program Overview

The 12-month MTF Academy Program provides an intensive blend of theoretical learning and hands-on production experience. Participants will work alongside industry professionals and mentors, gaining practical insights into the film and television industry.

The program operates through four regional academies located in:

  • West Africa: Lagos, Nigeria
  • East Africa: Nairobi, Kenya

  • South Africa: Johannesburg, South Africa

Each academy provides students from 14 participating African countries with access to world-class training, professional mentorship, and valuable networking opportunities within the film and television industry.

What the Program Offers

The MTF Academy curriculum covers a wide range of essential filmmaking modules, including:

Students learn through practical workshops, collaborative film projects, and masterclasses facilitated by industry experts who are active professionals in their fields. This ensures that participants receive not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience that reflects real-world production environments.

At the end of the program, graduates (except those in South Africa) receive a university-accredited certificate from one of MTF’s academic partners:

  • Pan-Atlantic University (Nigeria)
  • Kenyatta University (Kenya)
  • University of Zambia (Zambia)

This partnership enhances the academic credibility of the program while equipping students with globally recognized qualifications.
