Apply Now for TECH4Resilience Challenge 2025 and Use AI to Tackle Climate and Humanitarian Crises

Admin, August 20, 2025August 20, 2025

Application Deadline: August 31, 2025

Applications are now open for the TECH4Resilience Challenge 2025. If you are building AI-powered solutions that address climate-related emergencies or humanitarian crises, this is your chance to scale your impact, access mentorship, and receive up to USD 50,000 in funding.

Why This Challenge Matters

The climate crisis is no longer a distant future—it is unfolding now. Communities are struggling with extreme weather events, pandemics, food shortages, and conflict. Women and young people, particularly in the Global South, are disproportionately affected.

In the face of these challenges, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is proving to be a game-changer. From strengthening food security to improving early warning systems, AI has the potential to predict risks, prepare communities, and save lives.

About the TECH4Resilience Challenge

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation and the Trafigura Foundation, has launched the TECH4Resilience Challenge to support AI-driven innovations addressing humanitarian and climate crises.

The initiative seeks to turn seed-level ideas into scalable, sustainable solutions that strengthen preparedness and resilience where they are needed most.

What the Challenge Focuses On

TECH4Resilience supports solutions that:

  • Reduce the impact of extreme climate events in humanitarian and emergency settings.
  • Strengthen Anticipatory Action (AA) systems so communities can act before crises escalate.

What Winners Will Receive

Winners of the challenge will gain access to a unique package of support, including:

  • Up to USD 50,000 in funding to scale solutions.
  • A leadership and mentorship program tailored to innovators’ needs.
  • Visibility and communications support to increase global reach.
  • Opportunities to pitch to investors and funders for further growth.

Who Can Apply

Applications are open to:

  • Innovators and entrepreneurs (for-profit or non-profit).
  • Projects using AI to address climate-related emergencies or enhance AA frameworks.
  • Initiatives targeting low- and middle-income countries on the OECD-DAC list of ODA recipients (except Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea Region of Ukraine).

Timeline and Key Dates

  • 1 August 2025 – Applications open
  • 19 August 2025 – Webinar for applicants
  • 31 August 2025 – Deadline for applications

Building Resilience with AI

The TECH4Resilience Challenge arrives at a crucial moment. As climate and humanitarian crises become more complex, the world needs scalable, locally rooted, and predictive solutions. By applying AI to these challenges, innovators can transform how communities anticipate and respond to disruptions.

Through funding, mentorship, and visibility, the challenge ensures that promising ideas grow into long-lasting solutions—strengthening resilience across vulnerable communities worldwide.
