Applications Now Open for the RecycleUp Nigeria Innovation Program 2026 — Empowering Circular Economy Leaders Across Nigeria

The RecycleUp Nigeria Innovation Program 2026 is now accepting applications from aspiring innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and changemakers passionate about tackling Nigeria’s waste management challenges. This national initiative is designed to nurture a new generation of circular economy leaders who will drive sustainable development through innovation, collaboration, and impactful environmental practices.

Slated to commence in February 2026, the program will equip participants with the knowledge, mentorship, and practical tools to design scalable circular solutions that contribute to Nigeria’s transition from a linear “take–make–dispose” economy to a regenerative, sustainable system.

About the RecycleUp Nigeria Innovation Program

The RecycleUp Innovation Program is a flagship environmental initiative aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s circular economy transformation. It targets key sectors vital to achieving sustainable waste management and environmental resilience, including:

  • Built Environment
  • Organic Material & Biowaste
  • Energy
  • Electronics & ICT
  • Packaging & Plastics
  • Textiles
  • Water
  • Food & Agriculture

Through training, mentorship, and ecosystem collaboration, the program will empower 1,000 young innovators and entrepreneurs to create sustainable, scalable solutions that promote responsible production and consumption across Nigeria’s 36 states.

Program Objectives

1. Foster Circular Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Equip 1,000 young Nigerians with the technical and entrepreneurial skills to design impactful circular economy solutions that address real-world waste management challenges.

2. Promote Nationwide Circular Practices
Encourage recycling and responsible waste management practices at the community, household, and business levels, inspiring a culture of environmental responsibility.

3. Empower Green Enterprises
Support the development of eco-friendly products, policies, and ventures that create green jobs, strengthen local economies, and promote sustainable growth.

4. Build a Collaborative Ecosystem
Connect innovators, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to foster collaboration and accelerate Nigeria’s transition toward a circular, sustainable economy.

Who Should Apply

The program welcomes applications from:

  • Students and researchers exploring sustainability solutions
  • Innovators and entrepreneurs developing eco-friendly technologies or business ideas
  • Individuals and households committed to recycling and environmental impact
  • Community-based and corporate organizations driving environmental change

Successful applicants will participate in a structured four-month program running from January to April 2026, designed to provide hands-on experience, capacity building, and mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the RecycleUp Innovation Program 2026, applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens aged 21–40
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in sustainability and circular economy principles
  • Show leadership potential and community engagement experience
  • Commit at least 5 hours weekly to program activities
  • Have reliable internet access and a device for virtual participation
