The OBEL Award Teaching Fellowships 2025 provide educators and researchers worldwide with a unique opportunity to drive innovation in architectural education. Fellowship Overview

In its third edition, the OBEL Award will offer two teaching fellowships, each providing up to €75,000 in funding. Applicants are invited to apply in partnership with a host institution, with courses scheduled to begin in 2026 or soon thereafter. This cycle’s theme, “Ready Made”, encourages the rethinking, reinterpretation, and repurposing of existing resources within the built environment.

Application Process

  1. Identify a Host Institution: Prospective fellows must secure a university willing to support the development and delivery of their course.
  2. Develop a Course Proposal: The proposal should clearly demonstrate how the course aligns with the “Ready Made” theme and its potential to impact the built environment.
  3. Submit the Joint Application: Applications must be submitted online via the official OBEL Award website.

Application Deadline

The deadline for the 2025 OBEL Award Teaching Fellowships is August 1, 2025, at midnight CEST. Early submission is encouraged to ensure full consideration.

Post-Fellowship Requirements

After completing the fellowship, fellows and universities must submit:

  • A copy of the course syllabus.
  • A brief report detailing the course’s impact, including:
    • Student attendance numbers.
    • An assessment of the course’s successes and areas for improvement.
    • Pedagogical methods and learning outcomes.
    • Suggestions for future modifications.

This report, along with the course curriculum, will be archived and made accessible to educators and institutions globally, encouraging ongoing knowledge sharing and fostering continuous improvement.
