About the APRI Young Talent Program The Young Talent Program offers participants a structured entry point into the world of policy research. It’s tailored for individuals eager to work on pressing African policy challenges across key thematic areas, including geopolitics, geoeconomics, sustainability, and green transitions. Participants will engage in real-world projects, support ongoing research, and contribute fresh ideas to APRI’s diverse program portfolio. This internship-style experience promotes intellectual growth, critical thinking, and exposure to the inner workings of a leading African policy institute. Who Should Apply The program is open to: Young professionals and recent graduates, particularly those with a strong interest in policy research and African development. Applicants based in Europe must be enrolled in a university program to meet internship requirements under local regulations (e.g., Pflichtpraktikum in Germany). Applicants in Africa and other global regions are welcome, even if not currently enrolled in school, as long as they’ve recently graduated or are between academic programs. Eligibility Requirements Ideal candidates should meet the following criteria: Ability to work in GMT+1 (Nigeria) or GMT+2 (Germany) time zones. Demonstrated research and analytical skills; proficiency in data analysis and data visualization is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in other languages is advantageous. Must be self-motivated, organized, dependable, and proactive. Ability to work effectively within a multicultural and collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications A completed graduate degree in a relevant field such as international relations, economics, political science, environmental policy, or development studies. Experience or deep interest in policy research. Availability to work from APRI’s Berlin or Abuja office is a significant advantage, as it enhances team collaboration and learning.
