Youth Transformational Empowerment and Mentorship(Y-TEaM) Programme: Apply Now

The Youth Transformational Empowerment and Mentorship (Y-TEaM) Programme by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) offers young graduates a dynamic opportunity to gain practical experience, mentorship, and professional development in the fields of peace and security.

Programme Overview

This initiative is designed to empower young people across West Africa, equipping them with essential skills to contribute to peace, security, and governance in their communities. With the endorsement of the African Union’s youth capacity development framework, Y-TEaM aims to bridge the gap in peacebuilding expertise and cultivate future leaders committed to social change.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 who have recently graduated and have a strong interest in peace, security, development, or community engagement. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to social change, community resilience, and leadership. Participation is available to youth from West African countries.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or strong interest in peacebuilding, security, and governance
  • Passion for community development and leadership in peacebuilding
  • Ability to commit fully to the nine-month programme

Programme Structure

The nine-month Y-TEaM Programme consists of intensive training, mentorship, and practical internship experience to develop leadership and technical skills.

Training Sessions

  • Monthly training sessions lasting two to three days
  • Topics include conflict prevention, conflict management, leadership, governance, and policy advocacy
  • Engaging workshops, networking events, and field visits

Internship Component

  • A six-month internship at WANEP’s National Secretariats
  • Minimum commitment of two days per week
  • Hands-on experience in peacebuilding and governance initiatives

Mentorship Programme

  • Personalized mentorship with experienced peacebuilding professionals
  • Monthly mentorship meetings (virtual or in-person)
  • Continuous professional development and career guidance

Visibility & Networking

  • Participants will be featured on WANEP’s website and digital platforms
  • Potential sponsorship to attend regional or international peacebuilding events, subject to available resources
