UNESCO 2025 IFCD Funding Now Open – Apply for the International Fund for Cultural Diversity

Admin, April 11, 2025April 11, 2025

Application Deadline: May 21, 2025

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially launched the 2025 Call for Applications for its prestigious International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). This global funding opportunity is open to NGOs and public institutions in eligible countries across the Global South. The IFCD aims to strengthen the cultural and creative industries through impactful, sustainable projects.

Supporting the Creative Economy in the Global South

Now in its 16th cycle, the IFCD is a key funding mechanism under the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. This annual call supports innovative projects that help shape resilient cultural ecosystems, promote inclusive cultural policies, and enhance access to cultural goods and services.

The fund is designed to empower the creative sectors, especially in underrepresented regions, by offering financial support to initiatives that make a real, lasting difference.

What Types of Projects Are Eligible?

The IFCD is looking for projects with clear goals and measurable impact in the cultural and creative industries. Priority is given to proposals that:

  • Contribute to the development or implementation of cultural policies
  • Create structural change in the production, distribution, and access to cultural goods and services
  • Strengthen capacities of public institutions and civil society to support sustainable cultural markets
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and equitable access to cultural opportunities

Who Can Apply?

The following organizations are eligible to apply for IFCD 2025:

  • Public institutions and NGOs from eligible countries in the Global South
  • International NGOs registered in countries that are parties to the 2005 Convention

Applicants must present well-structured project proposals that align with the IFCD’s objectives. Projects should demonstrate potential for long-term impact, innovation, and sustainability in the cultural sector.

Why This Grant Matters

The creative economy is a powerful driver of innovation, social change, and economic development. However, in many parts of the world, especially in the Global South, these sectors remain under-resourced and overlooked. The IFCD provides much-needed funding and international support to amplify cultural diversity and empower communities.

This call is not only an opportunity for funding—it is a call to reimagine the role of culture in sustainable development. From digital innovation in the arts to gender-inclusive cultural initiatives, the IFCD is seeking bold, transformative ideas that can make a global impact.

Key Deadline

The deadline to apply for the 2025 IFCD funding round is May 21, 2025. Interested organizations are encouraged to begin the application process as soon as possible to meet all requirements.

If your organization is working to promote cultural diversity, support local artists, or build sustainable creative industries, this funding opportunity is for you. The IFCD 2025 Call for Applications offers a chance to secure funding, scale your impact, and contribute to a more inclusive, vibrant global culture.
