This global challenge aims to support early-stage, tech-driven startups that are working to enhance food security and sustainability through cutting-edge solutions.

About the Innovate for Impact Challenge

Unveiled at the 2024 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, this competition invites entrepreneurs worldwide to present breakthrough AgTech solutions. The challenge aligns with the World Food Prize Foundation’s mission to elevate innovations that combat hunger and advance sustainable agriculture.

Key Highlights of the Challenge:

  • Global Reach: Open to startups from around the world with innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Live Pitch Event: Finalists will present their AgTech solutions at the 2025 Borlaug Dialogue in Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Grand Prize: The winner will receive $50,000 to expand their impact on global food security.

Eligibility Criteria

The Innovate for Impact Challenge is open to early-stage, for-profit startups in the AgTech space. To qualify, startups must:
-Be in the early development stages, from a validated concept to pre-Series A funding.
-Have at least one founder working full-time on the project.
-Demonstrate innovation, market potential, and sustainability alignment.

Startups will be judged based on:

  • Innovation Impact: The uniqueness and relevance of the solution.
  • Market Viability: Demand and potential within the agricultural industry.
  • Sustainability Contribution: How the innovation supports environmental and social sustainability.
  • Scalability: The potential to expand and adapt across different markets and regions.

Prizes and Recognition

Awards for the Top Three Startups:

  • 1st Place: $50,000
  • 2nd Place: $10,000
  • 3rd Place: $5,000
