Applications are officially open for the prestigious Commonwealth Startup Fellowship 2026, a transformative six-month program tailored to support high-potential startups from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. This fully funded opportunity offers a dynamic blend of in-person and virtual programming, designed to accelerate the growth and scalability of early-stage ventures.

Organized by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in collaboration with Imperial College London, the fellowship aims to empower a new generation of impact-driven entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and global network needed to build sustainable businesses, create employment, and spark innovation in their home countries.

Fellowship Overview

The Commonwealth Startup Fellowship is structured to provide both immersive and flexible learning experiences. The selected 20 startups will benefit from a two-week, all-expenses-paid bootcamp in Accra, Ghana, scheduled from 14 to 30 November 2025, followed by five months of virtual training. Outstanding fellows may also be selected to attend a capstone event in London, UK in May 2026, where they will pitch their innovations to a global audience of investors and industry leaders.

Fellows will receive a comprehensive support package designed to eliminate financial barriers and enhance business development opportunities:

  • Fully funded return airfare from the fellow’s home country to Accra, Ghana
  • Accommodation, transportation, and meals during the bootcamp

  • Access to a Fellows Grant Fund, covering expenses related to program participation or business development
  • Invitation to the London Capstone event (for selected participants), providing exposure to investors and strategic partners
  • Eligibility to apply for equity-free financial support from a £35,000 Fellows Fund, which can be used to support the growth and operational needs of participating startups
