About the Opportunity: Strengthening PHCs Through Data

Nigeria’s Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), established under the National Health Act 2014, remains one of the most important financing mechanisms for primary healthcare. It channels resources to deliver the Basic Minimum Package of Health Services, reduce out-of-pocket expenses, and strengthen PHC facilities nationwide.

Recent disbursements under BHCPF 2.0 (including over ₦32 billion in early 2026) are part of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII). A key pillar of this reform is the shift to digital systems — particularly Electronic Medical Records — to improve data accuracy, patient tracking, supply chain management, and overall service delivery.

The Talent Lab assignment directly supports this agenda. Selected Data Collectors will visit BHCPF-supported PHCs to evaluate infrastructure, staffing, workflows, digital readiness, and other critical factors needed for successful EMR rollout. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Talent Lab Data Collectors Recruitment 2026, applicants must meet the following:

•  Hold an ND or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a closely related field

•  Have prior experience in field data collection (strong advantage)

•  Be proficient in using digital data collection tools such as ODK, SurveyCTO, KoboToolBox, or similar platforms

•  Possess good knowledge of local communities and languages in the target state (essential for effective stakeholder engagement)

•  Reside in one of the 12 participating states: Adamawa, Bauchi, Niger, Nasarawa, Kano, Jigawa, Anambra, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Oyo, or Lagos

•  Be available for the full 3-week field exercise
