As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering vulnerable populations, NRC is seeking a dedicated Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS) Technical Assistant to join its team in Jos, Plateau State. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change by implementing food security initiatives and supporting income-generating activities within affected communities. The Role and Responsibilities The LFS Technical Assistant will work closely with the LFS Officers, implementing livelihood and food security programs, including agricultural support, income-generating initiatives, cash-for-work activities, and livestock management. Responsibilities include: Identifying and registering vulnerable households to participate in NRC’s livelihood interventions. Ensuring community representation and inclusion in project execution. Conducting technical assessments to identify sustainable income-generating opportunities. Mobilizing and sensitizing community members while fostering local ownership of the initiatives. Preparing accurate documentation, including participant lists and reports. Overseeing the distribution of livelihood support kits, ensuring transparency and accountability. Providing regular field reports that highlight progress, challenges, and success stories. Training and supervising community volunteers and survey enumerators. Collaborating with stakeholders to offer training on business development, livestock management, and climate-smart agriculture. Exploring innovative technologies and methods to improve the quality of livelihood programs. Adhering to NRC policies and donor requirements while coordinating with other humanitarian actors in the region. Who Can Apply? Ideal candidates should have a BSc or HND in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field, along with at least two years of relevant experience. Practical knowledge of Selection, Planning, and Management (SPM) of Income-Generating Activities (IGAs), beneficiary skills training, and agricultural livelihoods is essential. Other key qualifications include: Experience in cash and voucher assistance programs. Ability to work independently in complex and volatile settings. Strong ethical standards and integrity. Effective communication skills with a respectful and inclusive approach. Knowledge of Plateau State’s context and fluency in an additional local language is an advantage. Why Join NRC?
