Join the 2025 Language Revitalization Fellowship: Empower Your Community Through Language

Admin, August 8, 2025August 8, 2025

Application Deadline: August 24, 2025

Are you passionate about preserving your ancestral language and empowering your community through education and technology? The 7000 Languages organization invites applications for its 2025 Language Revitalization Fellowship, a remote, part-time program designed to support individuals committed to language preservation and digital learning.

Through this paid opportunity, selected fellows will develop online language learning materials using free educational technology tools. This global initiative welcomes applications from aspiring language advocates, particularly those from Indigenous and endangered language communities. If you’re ready to make an impact by revitalizing your ancestral tongue and learning project management skills, this fellowship is for you.

What You’ll Do as a Fellow

As a Language Revitalization Fellow, you will:

  • Collaborate with your community to create accessible, engaging language learning materials.
  • Partner with the 7000 Languages team to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Record, edit, and organize audio lessons, written content, and other digital materials.
  • Apply language learning technology tools to design and publish online courses.
  • Share best practices in course creation, such as ideal recording environments and file management techniques.
  • Maintain and track course drafts and materials using proprietary tools.
  • Contribute creative marketing content to promote your language and course rollout.
  • Help improve and expand 7000 Languages’ technology platforms for community use.

This is more than a fellowship—it’s a platform to lead change, safeguard cultural identity, and inspire others to learn and teach endangered languages.

Who Should Apply?

We strongly encourage applications from individuals actively working to reclaim, preserve, or teach endangered languages, particularly those with lived experience within such communities. You do not need to be enrolled in a college or university to apply. Candidates from all parts of the world are welcome.

  • The Americas — with priority for applicants from Belize, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru.
  • California — Indigenous and endangered language communities.
  • West and Central Africa — especially Cameroon and Ghana.

Only five fellows will be selected to join the Fall 2025 cohort.
