The Embassy of France in Nigeria is pleased to announce the launch of its annual Call for Proposals under the French Embassy Fund for Civil Society Organizations (FEF). This initiative aims to support innovative, small- and medium-scale projects led by Nigerian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), fostering positive social change in key areas. About the French Embassy Fund (FEF) The FEF is a strategic funding initiative launched by the Embassy of France in Nigeria to empower and strengthen local CSOs. Since its inception in 2019, the fund has supported numerous organizations and projects across Nigeria, accelerating progress in critical areas such as women’s rights, gender equality, disability inclusion, sports, and peacebuilding. This initiative prioritizes grassroots development and encourages community-driven solutions that align with broader sustainable development goals, social justice, and economic empowerment. Eligibility Criteria Organizations that meet the following criteria are encouraged to submit their proposals: Officially registered Nigerian CSOs, including associations, foundations, NGOs, and cooperatives, with a minimum of 24 months of legal registration with Nigerian authorities. Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), youth-led groups, and women- and girls-led organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Organizations with prior experience in executing projects related to the thematic areas covered by this grant. Proposals that demonstrate collaboration, partnerships, and synergies among different stakeholders are highly valued. Priority Areas of Focus The FEF prioritizes initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and social inclusion. Key thematic areas include: 1. Gender Equality & Women’s Rights Projects in this category should focus on: Economic and social empowerment for women and girls. Improving healthcare accessibility for women, girls, and vulnerable groups. Enhancing access to education for women, girls, and marginalized populations. Promoting peace, security, and justice to ensure a safer and more equitable society. 2. Economic Self-Sufficiency & Income-Generating Activities Proposals aimed at fostering economic growth and self-reliance among women, youth, and vulnerable communities should: Align with local economic needs and global development goals. Strengthen economic independence through skill development and entrepreneurship. Encourage innovative and inclusive approaches such as: Capacity-building programs. Improved access to economic resources. Establishing resilient and sustainable economic models. Focus on underprivileged and marginalized populations to ensure inclusive economic participation.
