The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has opened nominations for the 2025 UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. This esteemed award honors individuals, institutions, and organizations that make a meaningful impact in advancing education for girls and women worldwide.

Celebrating Excellence in Education

The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education recognizes innovative and impactful initiatives that enhance access to education, improve its quality, and promote gender equality. Each year, two outstanding laureates receive $50,000 each to support and expand their work.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominations must be submitted by:

  • Governments of UNESCO Member States
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in official partnership with UNESCO

Each nominator can recommend up to three candidates, including individuals, institutions, or organizations that demonstrate innovation and impact in advancing girls’ and women’s education. Self-nominations are not permitted.

How to Secure a Nomination

Interested candidates should contact their country’s National Commission for UNESCO, Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, or an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO to be considered. Additional inquiries can be directed to the Prize Secretariat for further assistance.
