CIVICUS is now accepting applications for the 2025 Youth Action Team (YAT). This opportunity is for young leaders who are passionate about civic action, social justice, and youth-led change across the globe.

The Youth Action Team plays a key leadership role in CIVICUS—an international alliance that supports citizen action and civil society. This team of changemakers helps shape how CIVICUS engages with its growing network of nearly 4,000 youth members worldwide.

What Is the CIVICUS Youth Action Team?

The CIVICUS Youth Action Team is a group of youth leaders who work together to guide CIVICUS’ youth engagement strategy. Team members serve as advocates, strategists, and connectors—ensuring that young people are heard and involved in global civic processes.

This is a voluntary, one-year leadership opportunity that gives selected youth leaders a chance to collaborate on international projects, co-create initiatives, and support youth-led advocacy at local, regional, and global levels

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the 2025 cohort, applicants must meet these requirements:

Be 30 years old or younger by December 31, 2025
Actively involved in a civil society organization (registered or unregistered)
Hold a leadership role in a movement or network at the national or regional level
Have support from your organization to participate in this volunteer role
Show commitment to social justice and civic action through advocacy or community work
Have experience organizing or leading online events that build connections and share knowledge
Be comfortable working in English with a global team across multiple time zones
Have at least 10 hours per month of internet access to participate in meetings and activities
Be available to attend a one-week in-person gathering each year (if travel conditions allow)
Reside in one of the following regions:
- North America
- Central America
- South America
- Caribbean
- North, West, or Southern Africa
- Middle East
- Central Asia
- East or Southeast Asia

Note: Applicants from Mexico, Zimbabwe, and Zambia are not eligible for the 2025 cohort due to current team representation from those countries.
