How You Can Contribute
Reporting to the Chief of Field Operations & Emergency, the Chief Field Officer (CFO) will be responsible for managing and leading UNICEF’s programmatic efforts across three northeastern states in Nigeria as part of our country program. The CFO acts as UNICEF’s representative within their Area of Responsibility (AoR), guiding various program sectors and operational teams to ensure high-quality results that align with UNICEF’s cooperative programs, country management plans, and overall vision set senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Within scope of designated authority and organizational structure, the successful candidate may undertake several key duties:
- Efficient management of UNICEF’s presence, personnel, and resources.
- Knowledge management related to programs.
- Development and oversight of programs.
- Optimal utilization of program funding.
- Monitoring and evaluation of programs.
- Implementation of a rights-based approach alongside results-oriented management.
- Capacity building at national and local levels ensuring sustainability.
- Advocacy from a rights perspective at national, community, and family levels.
- Fostering partnerships through coordination and collaboration.
Qualifications RequiredTo be an advocate for every child:
Minimum Requirements
Education: An advanced university degree in fields such as Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration or similar disciplines is essential.
Experience: A minimum of ten years’ professional experience in areas like program management or project administration is required. Previous experience in a similar role is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate capacity-building abilities while addressing humanitarian needs effectively. Strategic thinking with innovation skills alongside strong interpersonal abilities are necessary traits. Relevant experience within UN agencies or organizations is advantageous; experience working in developing nations will also be beneficial. Familiarity emergency contexts is highly desirable.
Languageficiency:
Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another UN language or local languages pertinent to the duty station would be an advantage.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience working within developing countries or familiarity with emergency situations [this requirement should remain consistent across all job postings].
