Call to join Stories x Women Program for Emerging Communities.

Admin, January 22, 2025January 22, 2025

Initiated in 2022 through a collaboration between Women in Animation (WIA) and the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF), the Stories x Women program aims to elevate the voices of women and non-binary creatives in animation. This innovative initiative targets emerging animation communities across Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America, promoting diversity and representation within the global animation industry.

Program Objectives

The primary goal of Stories x Women is to empower female creatives by providing them with access to international opportunities and resources. This initiative allows them to share authentic narratives while expanding their professional networks. By connecting these talents with a global audience, Stories x Women strives to enhance diversity and inclusivity in storytelling within animation.

How It Operates

Selected participants engage in a series of extensive mentoring and coaching sessions led by distinguished experts from the animation field. These preparatory sessions equip participants with essential skills for pitching their projects at the esteemed Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market. The program covers all expenses related to participation, including:

  • Travel
  • Accommodation
  • Accreditation fees

Impact on Emerging Creatives

Since its launch, Stories x Women has attracted applications from women-led teams across more than two dozen countries. So far, eleven delegations representing nations such as Brazil, Kenya, Malaysia, Argentina, Peru, South Africa, Thailand, and the Dominican Republic have benefited from this transformative experience.

Eligibility Criteria

This program invites applications for animation projects led by women or nonbinary creators from designated emerging markets. Teams can comprise up to two members but must include at least one woman or nonbinary individual as the Lead Project Holder.
