The annual awards spotlight the vision, innovation, and leadership of women whose work continues to redefine the global food ecosystem. Despite their groundbreaking achievements, Black women’s contributions to the culinary world often go underrecognized. The Black Women in Food Awards aim to close this visibility gap by honoring the excellence, creativity, and impact of women who are driving positive change across the food value chain — from farm to table, and from storytelling to innovation. About the Black Women in Food Awards This initiative celebrates trailblazers and changemakers whose work influences how the world eats, drinks, and experiences hospitality. The awards amplify their voices, elevate their stories, and affirm their vital role in strengthening global food systems. Each year, honorees are nominated by the public and carefully selected by a distinguished panel of experts drawn from across the food and beverage industry. The 2026 honorees will be formally recognized at the Black Women in Food Summit, scheduled for April 23–25, 2026 — an event that brings together thought leaders, creators, and innovators committed to inclusive representation in food culture. Award Categories The awards feature 10 categories that reflect the diverse roles and expertise of Black women transforming the industry: Game Changer – Recognizes individuals who use their influence for positive change, including activists, policymakers, or venture capitalists. Creator – Honors those who connect people through creative content or culinary products, such as bloggers, stylists, or food entrepreneurs. Innovator – Celebrates those leveraging technology or new tools to solve challenges in food and beverage, including inventors, product developers, and researchers. Culinarian – Acknowledges exceptional skill and artistry in cooking, whether as chefs, caterers, or home cooks. Hospitality Maven – Highlights excellence in guest experience and front-of-house operations, including managers and hospitality professionals. Trailblazer – Honors pioneers making groundbreaking contributions that reshape the industry. Amplifier – Recognizes storytellers who elevate narratives around food systems — from journalists to filmmakers and podcasters. Beverage Master – Awards women leading innovation in wine, beer, and spirits, including sommeliers, brewers, and bar owners. Corporate Champion – Celebrates professionals driving inclusivity and sustainability within corporate food and beverage spaces. Restaurateur – Recognizes impactful restaurant founders and owners of dining spaces, cafes, food trucks, or mobile kitchens. Eligibility Criteria The Black Women in Food Awards are open to anyone who self-identifies as a Black woman from anywhere in the world. Nominees must have demonstrated significant accomplishments in at least one of the listed categories. This inclusive recognition seeks to shine a spotlight on the creativity, resilience, and influence of Black women whose leadership continues to inspire the next generation of food professionals globally.
