Organization: Invictus Africa

Location: Across Nigeria’s 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Status: Contract

Are you passionate about women’s health and eager to make a difference? Invictus Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting human rights and gender equality through data-driven advocacy, is seeking skilled researchers to contribute to the Women’s Health Project (WHP).

About the Women’s Health Project (WHP)

The WHP aims to enhance the data and evidence base surrounding women’s health in Nigeria, ultimately driving policy changes, funding, decision-making, and actions to improve family planning and maternal, newborn, and child health (FP/MNCH) outcomes. As a State Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in the collection of data and evidence that informs two essential annual reports: the Women’s Health Index (WHI) and the Primary Healthcare (PHC) Readiness Index (PRI).

What You’ll Do

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct thorough research to develop the Women’s Health Index, which assesses subnational governments on their healthcare provisions for women focusing on FP/MNCH services.
  • Evaluate PHC Preparedness: Contribute to assessing the readiness of primary healthcare facilities in five selected states (Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos) to provide essential healthcare services for women and girls.
  • Report Development: Generate actionable, data-driven recommendations for policymakers, governmental bodies, and stakeholders aimed at improving health outcomes for women, especially those in marginalized communities.

Qualifications and Requirements

We are looking for highly motivated public health researchers with the following qualifications:

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or a relevant health-related discipline.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years in public health research and data analysis, ideally in projects related to FP/MNCH.
  • Prior experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, KoboCollect, and at least one statistical analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and provide policy recommendations.
  • Excellent writing skills for clear and impactful report creation.

Essential Attributes

  • In-depth understanding of FP/MNCH and familiarity with governmental health policies in Nigeria.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Competence in verbal and written communication in English and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data quality and integrity.
