As climate change continues to impact communities across Africa, sustainable business innovation has become vital to building a resilient future. The BeGreen Program is a transformative opportunity designed to empower young African entrepreneurs who are building or scaling businesses that contribute to the green economy. Through hands-on training, expert mentorship, and seed funding, the program provides the tools and resources needed to turn eco-friendly ideas into thriving, revenue-generating ventures.

About the BeGreen Program

The BeGreen Program is a flagship initiative developed to support young innovators in South Africa and Nigeria who are passionate about environmental sustainability. It focuses on empowering youth-led startups and green enterprises tackling challenges such as renewable energy, waste management, recycling, sustainable agriculture, and climate-smart solutions.

Participants gain access to an intensive learning experience tailored to their stage of business—whether at the idea phase, early startup stage, or growth level. The program combines capacity building, funding support, and practical coaching to help entrepreneurs strengthen their business models and make measurable environmental and social impact.

Key Benefits of the BeGreen Program 2025

  • Grant Funding of Up to USD 5,000:
    Selected finalists will receive grant support to develop and scale their ventures. Funding is disbursed in structured tranches tied to the achievement of key business milestones.
  • Customized Learning Path:
    The training journey is designed to suit your current business stage, whether you are developing an idea, testing a prototype, or managing an operational venture.
  • Mentorship and Coaching:
    Participants receive direct guidance from industry experts, including sustainability advisors, financial strategists, and green business specialists.
  • Practical Workshops and Peer Learning:
    Entrepreneurs take part in hands-on sessions covering real-world business challenges, pitch preparation, and sustainability best practices, while engaging in collaborative learning with peers.
  • Post-Program Support:
    Graduates benefit from ongoing incubation, access to funding networks, and exposure to investors and industry partners to ensure long-term growth.

Eligibility Criteria

The BeGreen Program seeks driven, passionate young people who are ready to take the next step in their green entrepreneurship journey. Eligible applicants should:

  • Be between 18 and 34 years old.
  • Reside in South Africa or Nigeria.
  • Be founders of an enterprise at one of the following stages:
    • Ideation Stage: Have a business idea or prototype in development.
    • Early Stage: Running a new business (3–6 months) with a tested prototype.
    • Growth Stage: Managing an existing venture with revenue or customer traction.
  • Have a clear commitment to sustainability and environmental impact in areas such as clean energy, eco-friendly manufacturing, waste recycling, forestry, or sustainable agriculture.
  • Be willing to participate in all virtual learning blocks and complete milestone requirements.

Program Timeline

  • Learning Block 1: October 23 – November 7, 2025
  • Learning Block 2 + Assessment: November 10 – November 27, 2025
  • Live Pitch Event: December 1 – December 9, 2025
  • Business Acceleration & Funding Phase (Block 3): January 5 – May 31, 2026

During these phases, participants will complete a mix of interactive training sessions, business development exercises, and pitch assessments, culminating in the final funding round.

  2. Click on “Apply Now” and complete the online form (estimated time: 15–30 minutes).
  3. Take the brief entrepreneurial skills test included in the form.
  4. Shortlisted candidates will proceed through the learning blocks, mentorship sessions, and pitch presentations.
