Apply Now: UNDP Africa Regional Cybersecurity Training Programme 2025

Admin, April 8, 2025April 8, 2025

Application Deadline: April 17, 2025

The UNDP Africa Regional Cybersecurity Training Programme is now accepting applications for 2025. This unique initiative, in partnership with Give1Project and Concordia University, aims to equip young people from West and Central Africa with essential cybersecurity skills. This year, 150 participants will be selected for the second cohort.

A Growing Impact

Launched in 2023 with a pilot group of 22 participants, the programme has already helped many secure jobs in the tech industry or lead digital projects in their communities. In 2025, the programme will expand, providing more opportunities for youth across the region.

Inclusive and Flexible Learning

The programme offers a hybrid learning model that combines online classes for theoretical knowledge with in-person sessions for hands-on practice. To ensure access for participants in remote or underserved areas, special centers will be set up with computers and internet connectivity.

A key component of the programme is sustainability. Top-performing participants in each country will be trained as future trainers, empowering them to share their cybersecurity knowledge and foster peer learning in their communities.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Be a citizen of one of the 24 West or Central African countries
  • Be currently enrolled in or have graduated from a university or technical institution
  • Have basic knowledge of cybersecurity and a keen interest in the field
  • Be fluent in English or French
  • Hold a valid form of ID (national ID or passport)

What You’ll Gain

Participants will receive:

  • Practical cybersecurity training
  • Mentorship from industry experts
  • A certificate upon completion
  • Opportunities for networking, internships, job placements, and pathways to digital entrepreneurship

Future trainers will also assume leadership roles, helping to spread cybersecurity knowledge within their communities.

Selection Process

The selection process is competitive and occurs in three stages:

  1. Initial Screening – Assessment of motivation, skills, education, and experience.
  2. Technical Assessment – Evaluation of cybersecurity knowledge.
  3. Interviews – Final interviews to select the top candidates.

The application deadline is April 17, 2025, with early submissions encouraged.

A Platform for Change

This programme is more than just training. It’s an opportunity to transform the digital economy. It builds leadership, strengthens cybersecurity capacity, and creates a more inclusive tech ecosystem. For youth in rural and underserved areas, it provides the tools to close the digital divide and lead innovation in Africa’s rapidly growing tech space.
