Apply Now: Henry Arnhold Fellowship for Climate and Conservation Leaders

Admin, July 20, 2025July 20, 2025

Application Deadline: August 28, 2025

The Henry Arnhold Fellowship, hosted by the Mulago Foundation, is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity for high-impact climate and conservation innovators. Each year, 8 to 10 visionary leaders are selected to receive strategic support, peer learning, and a generous $100,000 unrestricted grant to help them scale their solutions for real-world environmental impact.

If you’re tackling global challenges such as deforestation, ocean degradation, biodiversity loss, or climate adaptation, this is your chance to accelerate your impact and join a powerful network of changemakers.

Why the Henry Arnhold Fellowship Stands Out

This is not just a grant — it’s a transformative experience designed to help leaders refine their vision, scale their models, and grow their influence.

$100,000 in Flexible Funding
Each fellow receives a $100,000 unrestricted grant at the beginning of the fellowship. You have the freedom to decide how best to invest the funds—whether it’s team expansion, systems improvement, or strategic growth.

Expert Strategy and Design Support
The fellowship begins and ends with an immersive, week-long retreat focused on designing scalable, high-impact strategies. You’ll work closely with the Mulago team, peer fellows, and seasoned experts to transform your solution into a replicable, high-impact model.

Mulago’s design-for-impact framework helps you go from idea to execution and ultimately, to exponential growth.

A Powerful Community of Peers
Fellows join a global network of climate and conservation leaders solving some of the world’s most urgent problems. This fellowship fosters deep collaboration, learning, and mentorship. The connections made during the program continue well beyond the fellowship year.

Who Should Apply

The Henry Arnhold Fellowship is intended for leaders who:

  • Have a working solution to a major climate or conservation issue
  • Lead a nonprofit or for-profit organization (early-stage is welcome)
  • Hold the most senior role, typically Founder, CEO, or Executive Director
  • Are committed to measurable impact and scalable growth

Examples of eligible work include protecting tropical forests, preserving marine ecosystems, restoring degraded landscapes, reducing emissions, promoting renewable energy, and supporting community climate adaptation.

The solution must have clear potential for scale — a model that can be replicated widely and create long-term systemic change.

Screening Period: September to January
Shortlisted applicants will go through interviews and review rounds with the Mulago team. Four reviewers independently evaluate each candidate’s potential fit with the fellowship.

Final Selection: Early 2026
Ten fellows will be selected for the 2026 cohort. Mulago contacts every applicant and provides tailored feedback to those who reach the interview stage.

Fellowship Launch: June 2026
The program kicks off with the first week-long in-person retreat and continues throughout the year with coaching on design, scale, communications, and connections.

How the Fellowship Helps You Scale

Mulago’s model for scaling solutions involves three strategic phases:

  1. Smart research and development to shape a scalable model
  2. Testing and replicating that model within your own organization
  3. Scaling the impact through other organizations, partners, or systems

The program teaches fellows how to build a robust, scalable solution that creates measurable outcomes—whether through replication, partnerships, or policy integration. Coaching is ongoing throughout the year to help fellows adapt, iterate, and grow.

The Retreat Experience

At the heart of the fellowship is a focused, energizing retreat that brings fellows together with experts, doers, and the Mulago team. Fellows participate in strategy sessions, small group discussions, and one-on-one coaching.

You’ll refine your impact model, clarify your communications, and explore funding strategies. The retreat is fast-paced, interactive, and deeply supportive—helping you gain clarity, confidence, and a concrete path forward.

Ready to Scale Your Solution?

If you’re a climate or conservation leader ready to expand your impact, the Henry Arnhold Fellowship is your launchpad. Whether you’re leading a growing nonprofit or a mission-driven startup, this is an opportunity to join a world-class support system and grow a solution that truly changes lives and ecosystems.
