The Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) is excited to announce the 8th round of the Global Citizen Scholarship Program for 2025! This fully virtual scholarship is designed to empower budding change-makers who are committed to taking action towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What Is the Global Citizen Scholarship? The Global Citizen Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for African youth aged 20 to 35 from across the continent to develop their skills and implement localized SDG Micro-Projects. Selected scholars will engage in a comprehensive 8-9 month program that includes a summer school, peer mentoring, expert training, and workshops on important topics related to sustainable development. What Do Scholars Receive? Participants in the program will benefit from: Expert Training: Engage in various workshops designed to enhance your understanding of the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded individuals and professionals in the field of sustainable development. Summer School Experience: Full cost coverage for a two-week summer school at Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) University. Seed Funding: Receive $500 to kick-start the implementation of your SDG Micro-Project after submitting a successful proposal. Certification: Upon the successful completion of your project, you will receive a certificate of achievement signed by esteemed Co-chairs H.E. Ban Ki-moon and H.E. Dr. Heinz Fischer. Who Can Apply? To be eligible for the Global Citizen Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria: Citizens of an African Country: Applicants must hold citizenship in any African nation. Age Group: Candidates should be between 20 and 35 years old at the time of application. Educational Qualifications: Applicants must have completed at least a Master’s degree. In exceptional cases, a successfully completed first year of Master’s studies will be considered sufficient. Commitment to SDGs: Candidates must demonstrate a strong dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals and the principles of global citizenship. English Proficiency: A minimum English language proficiency level of B2 (European Standards) is required.
