Admin, October 16, 2025October 16, 2025

Application Deadline: October 22, 2025

The Sino-Africa Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA) Fellowship is a prestigious fully funded professional development program empowering African leaders to champion sustainable finance and green growth. Organized by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA) with support from the African Climate Foundation (ACF), this fellowship is designed to equip policy, research, and industry professionals with practical tools to accelerate Africa’s transition to a green economy.

Building African Expertise in Green Finance

The SAGFA Fellowship offers an intensive curriculum focused on green finance, climate policy, and sustainable industrial development. Delivered entirely online during its pilot phase, the fellowship ensures accessibility for professionals across Africa while maintaining a high standard of learning and collaboration.

Future editions may introduce in-person residencies and field experiences, depending on program expansion and available funding.

Driving Sustainable Economic Transformation

Africa is at a critical juncture in addressing the dual challenges of climate change and industrial transformation. The SAGFA Fellowship addresses this urgent need by training experts who can design and implement financial mechanisms that drive climate resilience, low-carbon development, and green industrialization.

By empowering participants with actionable skills in green investment, climate finance, and sustainability strategy, the fellowship builds a new generation of leaders capable of driving change from advocacy to implementation.

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship targets mid- to senior-level professionals who are actively engaged in policy, finance, and sustainability initiatives. Ideal candidates include:

  • Policymakers and public sector officials
  • Researchers and think-tank analysts
  • Development practitioners and program advisors
  • Leaders in finance, energy, manufacturing, and agribusiness
  • Sustainability, ESG, and investment officers

Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to applying green finance concepts in their organizations, communities, or national development strategies.

Fellowship Benefits

Participants in the Sino-Africa Green Finance Alliance (SAGFA) Fellowship enjoy an immersive, fully funded learning experience designed to foster collaboration and innovation.

Key benefits include:

  • Fully funded 8-week virtual fellowship
  • Expert-led sessions and case-based learning experiences
  • Africa-China knowledge exchange and partnership opportunities
  • Capstone projects addressing real-world sector or country-level challenges
  • Access to a growing alumni network shaping climate policy across Africa

Through this program, fellows gain not only academic and technical knowledge but also a powerful professional network driving the continent’s sustainable finance agenda.

How to Apply

Professionals who are passionate about leading Africa’s green economic transformation are encouraged to apply through the official ACCPA application portal.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and selection is competitive. Early applications are strongly encouraged.

Why the SAGFA Fellowship Matters

The SAGFA Fellowship represents more than a professional training program—it is an investment in Africa’s future sustainability leadership. By equipping professionals with tools for climate-smart finance and green growth, the program contributes to a more inclusive and resilient economic model across the continent.

As Africa positions itself within the global green transition, initiatives like SAGFA will be central to unlocking financing solutions that address climate change, industrialization, and sustainable livelihoods.
