Are you part of a youth-led group passionate about healing our planet? Do you have a bold idea to restore degraded lands, forests, oceans, or urban green spaces? If yes, this is your moment!

The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Youth Task Force (in proud partnership with UNEP and FAO) has just launched its 2026 Microgrant Call — a funding opportunity created by young people, for young people, to put youth at the very heart of global restoration action.

What’s on Offer?

  • 10 microgrants of up to USD 1,000 each
  • At least 80% of the total funding will go to youth-led initiatives in the Global South (with the remaining 20% open to the Global North)
  • Projects can focus on restoring any terrestrial or aquatic ecosystem, including:
    • Farmlands & agroecological systems
    • Forests
    • Freshwater bodies (rivers, lakes, wetlands)
    • Grasslands, shrublands & savannahs
    • Mountains
    • Oceans & coasts
    • Peatlands
    • Cities & urban green areas

Whether you’re planting native trees, reviving traditional farming practices, cleaning up coastal mangroves, or turning abandoned urban lots into community gardens — if it’s youth-led and advances real ecosystem restoration, we want to hear from you!

Who Can Apply?

Youth-led organizations, collectives, associations, or registered non-profits where young people (typically under 35) are in decision-making roles. You don’t need to be a huge organization — grassroots groups, school clubs, and newly formed collectives are all welcome.

Why These Microgrants Matter

Small amounts of flexible funding can spark massive change when they reach the right hands. Past recipients have used similar grants to buy seedlings, tools, educational materials, or even cover transportation costs for community restoration days. This is seed money — literally and figuratively — for the next generation of environmental leaders.
