If you’re a health professional in Nigeria who’s ever said, “The data is there, but no one is listening,” this is for you.

Nigeria Health Watch is opening applications for the Health Professionals Communications & Advocacy Learning Programme (HPCALP) — a new initiative designed to equip health professionals with the skills to influence policy, shift public opinion, and drive action on priority health issues.

Because improving health outcomes isn’t only about what happens in the clinic.

Why HPCALP? Why Now?


Nigeria’s health challenges are complex. From vaccine hesitancy and misinformation to gaps in policy implementation, technical expertise alone isn’t enough.

We need health professionals who can:

  • Communicate complex evidence in ways that communities, media, and policymakers actually understand
  • Advocate effectively for evidence-based decisions
  • Lead public conversations and counter harmful health misinformation
  • Become trusted voices in the health sector and beyond

HPCALP was created for professionals who are passionate about going beyond clinical or technical practice — those ready to translate evidence into action.

What Makes HPCALP Different


This is not another lecture-heavy course.

HPCALP blends interactive virtual learning with real-world practice so you don’t just learn the theory, you apply it.

Programme Structure:

  • 4 Weeks of Virtual Learning
  • 2 hours per week of live, interactive sessions on health communication, media engagement, advocacy, thought leadership, and countering misinformation.
  • 1 Week of Practical Immersion
  • Hands-on experience in Abuja with Nigeria Health Watch and partner organisations working across Nigeria’s health sector.

By the end, you won’t just have a certificate. You’ll have practical skills, real experience, and a network.

What You’ll Gain

At the end of HPCALP, participants will join a growing network of health professionals equipped to:

  • Translate evidence into action for policy and community change
  • Communicate complex health issues to diverse audiences — from rural communities to newsrooms to government offices

  • Ready to dedicate time to 4 weeks of virtual learning + 1 week in Abuja
