The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) is inviting applications for the 2026 Young Professionals Programme (YPP) — a fully funded, intensive career development initiative designed to nurture the next generation of African intellectual property and innovation leaders.

This prestigious work-based training opportunity equips outstanding young graduates with practical professional experience in intellectual property (IP) and related administrative fields. The goal is to build a pool of skilled professionals capable of driving economic transformation and sustainable growth across the ARIPO member states.

The programme welcomes talented individuals from diverse academic backgrounds whose skills align with ARIPO’s operational and technical priorities. Through structured mentoring, on-the-job learning, and exposure to real-world projects, participants will gain critical expertise that supports development, innovation, and knowledge-driven growth across Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

The ARIPO Young Professionals Programme is open exclusively to citizens of ARIPO member states, including:
Botswana, Cape Verde, Eswatini, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained within the last five years in disciplines such as business, law, telecommunications, project management, strategy, or business analytics.
  • Be 28 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, effective communication abilities, independence, creativity, and digital literacy.
  • Have excellent written and spoken English proficiency.

Programme Benefits

ARIPO provides a competitive compensation and support package to ensure participants’ professional and personal well-being throughout the programme.

Key benefits include:

  • A monthly stipend of USD 2,500.
  • A one-time settling-in grant equivalent to one month’s stipend at the start of the programme.
  • Fully covered travel costs to the host country and return travel home upon completion.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance, with ARIPO covering the majority of the premium.
  • Access to annual, sick, and compassionate leave.
  • Group life, accident, and funeral insurance coverage.
  • A repatriation grant equivalent to one month’s stipend at the end of the programme.

Programme Duration and Outcome

The ARIPO Young Professionals Programme is a structured, hands-on learning experience that offers participants a platform to explore diverse professional areas and contribute meaningfully to regional development. Upon successful completion, participants will have developed valuable expertise in intellectual property and institutional management, positioning them for impactful roles in both public and private sectors across Africa.
