The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has opened applications for the 2025 AIG Fellowship Programme, a prestigious opportunity designed to recognize and empower exceptional public sector leaders across Africa. This initiative supports high-performing professionals who have significantly contributed to governance and public service transformation in their countries.

The AIG Fellowship Programme aims to enhance leadership capacity, deepen policy expertise, and support public sector reform by connecting fellows with global best practices, advanced research, and influential networks.

About the AIG Fellowship Programme

The AIG Fellowship is awarded to outstanding public servants who demonstrate remarkable leadership and a sustained track record of excellence in public service delivery. Through this fellowship, participants will have the opportunity to explore and tackle pressing policy issues, gain global insights, and advance transformative change in key sectors of governance.

Fellows are selected on a rolling basis, with priority given to those whose vision and work align with the strategic objectives of the Foundation. This initiative not only celebrates public sector excellence but also encourages impactful leadership at the highest levels of government.

Who Should Apply?

The AIG Fellowship Programme is tailored for senior public officials who meet the following eligibility requirements:

Leadership Position

Applicants must currently occupy top-level positions in public service, such as Director Generals or Chief Executive Officers of government agencies or parastatals.

Service Tenure

Candidates must have at least six years remaining before the official retirement age to ensure they can continue implementing change after the fellowship.

Proven Leadership and Impact

Applicants must present a strong record of measurable impact in public service delivery over the past five years. They should also provide verifiable examples of reforms or innovations introduced under their leadership that resulted in improved institutional performance or outcomes.

Strategic Sector Experience

Fellows should have played a leading role in at least one of the following sectors:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Agriculture
  • Finance
  • Energy
  • Justice
  • Defence
  • Security

Additionally, applicants must demonstrate experience managing cross-sectoral initiatives and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Applicants should hold a minimum of a Master’s degree or a comparable professional qualification. They must also provide evidence of ongoing professional development activities undertaken within the last three years.

Organisational Endorsement

A formal recommendation or endorsement must be obtained from a high-ranking public official such as the Head of the Civil Service, a Minister, or a State Governor. This endorsement should affirm the candidate’s leadership, ethical standing, and suitability for the fellowship.

Ethical Conduct

Candidates must maintain a clean professional record, free from disciplinary issues. A mandatory security clearance is also required as part of the selection process.
