Now, AFIDEP is launching its 13th round of the Africa Integrity Indicators (AII) in partnership with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation—a groundbreaking project assessing governance, anti-corruption, and development frameworks in all 54 African nations. This year’s focus? Real-world implementation of policies impacting safety, rule of law, economic opportunity, and human development.

The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), a leading pan-African nonprofit, is bridging the gap between research, policy, and action to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063. With offices in Nairobi and Lilongwe, AFIDEP champions evidence-based solutions across six pillars:

AFIDEP is recruiting a global network of journalists, researchers, and subject-matter experts to contribute to the Ibrahim Index of African Governance. Whether you’re analyzing data or ensuring its accuracy, your work will directly influence policies that empower communities across the continent.


Opportunities for Impact

1. Lead Researcher

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned journalist, academic, or researcher with 5+ years of experience in social/economic analysis.
  • Skilled in conducting interviews, desk research, and evaluating governance frameworks (e.g., transparency, gender equity, rural development).
  • Fluent in English or French (depending on target country).
  • Based in the African country under study and independent of government ties.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead fieldwork starting February/March 2025, analyzing 58 governance indicators over 12 weeks.
  • Collaborate with AFIDEP through March 2026 to refine findings.
