Admin, July 10, 2025July 10, 2025

Application Deadline: unspecified

The Green Youth Upskilling Program (GYUP), an initiative of the Oando Foundation, is now open for applications. This impactful program is designed to empower 25 young Nigerians with critical skills and practical knowledge in green and technical industries, helping to drive the country’s shift toward a sustainable and resilient economy.

As the demand for green jobs continues to rise globally, GYUP aims to bridge the skills gap by equipping youth with the tools they need to thrive in renewable energy, recycling innovation, sustainable agriculture, and climate-resilient technologies.

About the Program

The Green Youth Upskilling Program is a capacity-building initiative focused on fostering innovation, technical skills, and entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth. By prioritizing hands-on training and mentorship, the program supports Nigeria’s broader climate and sustainability goals.

Participants will benefit from an immersive learning experience covering key green economy sectors. Whether you’re passionate about solar energy, mechanical trades, electrical work, or eco-agriculture, this program provides the foundational skills needed to launch or accelerate a green career.

Who Should Apply

The program seeks motivated young changemakers ready to contribute to Nigeria’s green future. Ideal candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 20 to 35 years
  • Location: Must reside in Lagos State
  • Education: Minimum qualification of SSCE (Senior Secondary Certificate Examination)
  • Interest: No prior experience is required, but a strong interest or informal exposure to green/technical fields—such as solar installations, recycling, or smart agriculture—is a plus.

Above all, applicants must demonstrate curiosity, dedication, and a strong desire to learn and create impact.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen between the ages of 20 and 35
  • Have completed at least SSCE
  • Demonstrate interest in green or technical fields
  • Be fully available for the entire program duration, including all online and in-person sessions
  • Submit a complete application with supporting documents before the deadline

Candidates with previous volunteer experience, internships, or informal work in green/technical fields are encouraged to apply, though this is not mandatory.
