The Young Africa Enterprise Project (YAEP) is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs across the African continent and boosting economic growth. Developed collaboratively by Stars-Like-Us Europe and the African Network of Youth Policy Experts (AFRINYPE), YAEP seeks to unlock the potential of Africa’s youth by equipping them with essential tools, knowledge, and opportunities necessary to succeed in today’s global marketplace. Recognizing the immense talent within Africa, YAEP encourages young people to focus on their strengths and explore opportunities in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a catalyst for personal and regional economic revival.

Addressing Youth Migration

In response to the increasing trend of young Africans migrating to Europe and other Western countries in search of better opportunities, YAEP aims to transform this narrative. Over a span of ten years, this groundbreaking project intends to reshape Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape by nurturing a generation of innovative leaders committed to driving sustainable development and effecting positive change.

Goal

The primary objective of YAEP is simple yet powerful: empower African youth to become resilient, resourceful entrepreneurs who are socially conscious. By fostering positive change within their communities while contributing significantly towards sustainable development on the continent, these emerging business leaders will play an essential role in unlocking Africa’s entrepreneurial potential.

Mission

A key mission of YAEP is cultivating a vibrant culture of entrepreneurship among young people. Through mentorship programs, access to crucial resources, workshops, and networking opportunities, aspiring entrepreneurs gain inspiration as well as practical skills needed for launching ventures that contribute meaningfully to both local economies and society at large. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on promoting African products globally.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for participation in YAEP:

1. Applicants must be youthful entrepreneurs from Africa aged between 18 – 35 years old.
2. A commitment level allowing at least 80% participation throughout the program duration is required.
3. Participants should possess ownership or co-founding status over an existing start-up with readiness towards innovation efforts.
4. Availability for virtual program engagement is crucial alongside interest geared towards entrepreneurship/business development.
