Applications Now Open for Science-Policy Communication Fellowship by Nigeria Health Watch

Admin, April 12, 2025April 12, 2025

Application Deadline: April 24,2025

Nigeria Health Watch is now accepting applications for its Science-Policy Communication Fellowship—a unique three-month hybrid program designed to equip early to mid-career professionals with essential skills to translate scientific research into compelling, policy-driven communication.

Why This Fellowship Matters

In Nigeria’s evolving public health landscape, evidence-based policies are critical for long-term impact. However, a persistent communication gap between researchers and policymakers often delays or dilutes effective implementation. This fellowship aims to close that gap by developing a new wave of health communicators who can turn complex research into actionable insights for decision-makers and the public.

What You’ll Gain

The Science-Policy Communication Fellowship offers a dynamic, hands-on learning experience, including:

  • Expert-led training in science communication, policy writing, and media engagement
  • Personalized mentorship from leading professionals in public health and policy
  • Capstone project where fellows develop real-world communication strategies
  • Access to a national network of science-policy communication alumni

Programme Structure

  • Duration: 3 months
  • Format: Hybrid (Virtual Orientation, In-Person Training, and One-on-One Mentorship)
  • Deliverable: A capstone project translating research into policy-relevant communication

Who Should Apply?

We’re looking for early to mid-career professionals in:

  • Public Health
  • Scientific Research
  • Health Advocacy
  • Policy Analysis
  • Communication or Media

Ideal candidates are passionate about improving health outcomes in Nigeria through evidence-based advocacy and strategic storytelling.

Fellowship Benefits

  • Real-world experience in public health communication
  • Enhanced policy engagement skills
  • Mentorship from seasoned experts
  • Lifelong membership in a nationwide alumni network of science-policy communicators

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a Statement of Interest that highlights:

  • Motivation for joining the fellowship
  • Relevant experience and professional background
  • Career goals aligned with science-policy communication

Be the Voice Behind the Evidence

This fellowship offers a powerful platform to amplify scientific voices and drive meaningful change in Nigeria’s public health system. As a fellow, you will play a key role in shaping how health evidence is communicated, understood, and acted upon—paving the way for better policy decisions and healthier communities.
