This prestigious fellowship, running from July 2025 to July 2026, aims to nurture the next generation of women leaders committed to political participation, alliance-building, and peacebuilding efforts across Africa. About Nala Feminist Collective The Nala Feminist Collective (Nalafem) is a Pan-African group of young women advocating for gender equality, social justice, and decolonial feminist leadership across the African continent. Their initiatives aim to empower women to take on leadership roles and drive meaningful change in governance and decision-making spaces. Who Can Apply? This fellowship is open to young women who meet the following criteria: Aged between 18 and 40 years Leaders of campaigns or women’s groups Members of an existing consortium or collective focusing on alliance-building Engaged in cross-conflict negotiations Young women politicians currently holding office Selected fellows should align with the Africa Young Women Beijing +25 Manifesto and uphold the core values of Nalafem, including: Solidarity Social Justice Dignity Equity Decolonial Feminist Pan-Africanism Target Regions The I AM Nala Fellowship will support 30 emerging political leaders from the following regions: The Great Lakes The Sahel The Horn of Africa Eligible countries include Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. What the Fellowship Offers The I AM Nala Fellowship is designed to equip young women leaders with the necessary tools to drive impactful change in their communities and beyond. Capacity Building & Technical Support Fellows will receive hands-on training to enhance their leadership, negotiation, and advocacy skills, ensuring they can effectively engage in democratic transitions, decision-making, and peacebuilding efforts. 2. In-Person Engagements Where possible, fellows may participate in physical convenings at the Nalafem Summit, offering deeper engagement with peers and global leaders in feminist and political movements.
