Context
Africa faces disproportionate climate impacts despite minimal emissions contributions. Vulnerable sectors like agriculture and limited resources heighten risks to economies and ecosystems. The Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP)—backed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Global Center on Adaptation (GCA)—aims to secure $25 billion for climate-resilient investments by 2025. Aligned with this vision, ACLI empowers African leaders to drive adaptation policy and action.

Objective
Cultivate a network of African experts to shape regional/global climate strategies, ensuring African priorities guide international frameworks.

Program Tracks

  1. Emerging Leader (5–9 yrs experience):
  • Support policy briefs, technical advisory work.
  • Stipend: $10,000/year.
  1. Senior Leader (10–14 yrs experience):
  • Lead advisory projects, mentor juniors, design AAAP 2.0 initiatives.
  • Stipend: $15,000/year.
  1. Distinguished Leader (15+ yrs experience):
  • Global thought leadership, co-design flagship programs.
  • Stipend: $20,000/year (active engagement).

Eligibility

  • African nationals.
  • Proven climate adaptation experience.
  • Strong policy analysis and communication skills.
