Google continues its commitment to building a more inclusive tech industry through the Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science. This prestigious scholarship program aims to support and empower young women who are passionate about technology and innovation. The 2025 edition is now open to eligible students across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in computer science or related technical fields.

With a generous award of €7,000 (or local currency equivalent), the scholarship seeks to alleviate the financial burdens of university education while encouraging academic excellence and leadership among women in technology.

The technology sector continues to face gender disparity, especially in technical roles. The Generation Google Scholarship is a deliberate effort by Google to bridge this gap by providing financial support, mentorship, and career development opportunities for women pursuing tech careers. Recipients of this scholarship not only receive funding but also become part of a vibrant community of innovators, coders, and change-makers shaping the future of tech.

Who Is Eligible?

To apply for the 2025 Generation Google Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender: Applicants must identify as women.
  • Enrollment Status: Must be currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s program at an accredited university for the 2024–2025 academic year.
  • Future Enrollment: Should intend to remain enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s program during the 2025–2026 academic year.
  • Field of Study: Must be studying computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Academic Excellence: Applicants should demonstrate a strong academic record.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leadership and positive impact in school or community.
  • Financial Need: Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need.

Note: Children of Google employees are not eligible to apply.

Required Application Materials

Applicants will need to prepare and submit the following documents:

  1. General Background Information: Personal details, contact info, and academic information.
  2. Resume/CV: Up-to-date and saved as a PDF.
  3. Two Letters of Recommendation: From individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic performance, leadership, and potential.
  4. Academic Transcripts: A copy (unofficial is acceptable) of the most recent transcript.
  5. Short Answer Responses: Essays responding to specific questions regarding the applicant’s goals, leadership experience, and financial needs.
