Youth Ambassador Programme 2026: Empowering Young Voices in the UK

Admin, January 19, 2026January 19, 2026

Are you a young person passionate about shaping the future of employment for your generation? Applications are now open for the Youth Ambassador Programme 2026 by Youth Employment UK, a transformative 14-month voluntary initiative designed to amplify youth perspectives on critical career and job market issues. This program invites individuals aged 18-25 from across England to step up, share their stories, and influence policies that affect millions.

In a world where youth unemployment remains a pressing challenge, especially post-pandemic, opportunities like this are vital. Youth Employment UK, established in 2012, has been at the forefront of tackling these issues by providing free resources, supporting employers, and driving research-led policy changes. For African diaspora youth or those with international ties living in the UK, this program offers a unique platform to bridge global experiences with local action, fostering inclusive employment practices that resonate beyond borders.

What makes this opportunity stand out is its focus on real-world impact. Participants don’t just learn—they actively contribute to national conversations on education, apprenticeships, and barriers faced by underrepresented groups. If you’re motivated to build skills while making a difference, this could be your gateway to leadership in youth advocacy.

About the Program / Opportunity

The Youth Ambassador Programme 2026 is a voluntary commitment run by Youth Employment UK, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating youth unemployment in the UK. Founded over a decade ago, the organization works through three pillars: offering free online skills and career guidance for young people, helping employers adopt youth-friendly practices via memberships, and conducting research to inform policy recommendations. At its core, all efforts are youth-driven, ensuring that policies reflect the lived experiences of those they impact.

This 14-month program immerses ambassadors in activities that explore key youth employment topics, such as secondary and higher education, careers guidance, work experience, apprenticeships, and quality job opportunities. It also delves into barriers like disability, mental health challenges, racial and ethnic disparities, socio-economic hurdles, care experiences, and interactions with the criminal justice system. Through these lenses, ambassadors examine how government policies and employers can collaborate to achieve full youth employment.

Ambassadors represent Youth Employment UK at events, create content, and participate in youth-led projects. The program kicks off with a detailed induction and includes monthly training sessions to build knowledge and confidence. In the final two months, participants mentor the incoming cohort, creating a cycle of support and growth. This structure not only develops personal skills but also contributes to broader societal change, aligning with global goals like the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth. For young changemakers, it’s a chance to turn personal challenges into collective solutions, particularly relevant in an era where youth voices are crucial for equitable recovery from economic disruptions.

Benefits / What Selected Participants Receive

Eligibility Criteria

The program seeks diverse voices to ensure broad representation across England. To apply, you must meet these key requirements:

•  Aged 18-25 at the start of the program.

•  Residing in one of England’s regions: North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, Greater London, East of England, South East, or South West. (Note: The program focuses on England, but UK-wide perspectives are valued.)

•  Keen to share personal experiences and opinions on youth employment issues.

•  Willing to engage in content creation and represent Youth Employment UK publicly.

•  Able to commit to an average of 3 hours per month for core activities, plus attendance at least four in-person events per year (expenses covered).

•  Available for monthly training sessions on the first Wednesday of each month from 6-7pm via Zoom, and a one-day induction on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Diversity is prioritized, with particular interest in applicants from varied backgrounds, including those studying (college, sixth form, university), in apprenticeships, working, self-employed, NEET (not in education, employment, or training), or seeking work/receiving benefits.
