UNDP Nigeria Call for Youth Tech Solutions on Digital Violence 2025 :Apply Now

Admin, December 4, 2025December 4, 2025

Application Deadline: December 12, 2025

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nigeria has launched a national call for Youth Tech Solutions on Digital Violence to identify and amplify innovative technology-based responses that tackle the growing issue of online violence against women and girls in Nigeria.

This call seeks forward-thinking, youth-led tech innovations that actively prevent, detect, respond to, or monitor digital violence. These may include digital tools, platforms, services, or models that create safer online spaces for women and girls, promote responsible digital engagement, and support victims of online abuse.

Building Safer Digital Spaces for Women and Girls

UNDP Nigeria’s initiative aims to discover, validate, and elevate Nigerian-born digital innovations that are already demonstrating real impact in curbing digital abuse and harassment. The program will showcase youth-led solutions that apply technology creatively to address issues such as cyberbullying, digital stalking, exploitation, online harassment, and misinformation targeted at women and girls.

Selected innovators will gain visibility and targeted support to enhance and scale their solutions. The initiative will also connect them with influential stakeholders across government, the private sector, and civil society to foster collaboration and sustainability.

Benefits for Selected Participants

Six outstanding solutions will be recognized and featured prominently through UNDP Nigeria’s platforms and partner networks. Benefits include:

  • Showcasing during the 2025 “16 Days of Activism” campaign across UNDP Nigeria’s communication platforms and partner channels.
  • Feature placement in the Innovation Spotlight at the UNDP Innovation Centre, Lagos — documenting each model’s results, lessons learned, and potential for replication.
  • Opportunity to present at a multi-stakeholder dialogue that will bring together representatives from government, regulatory bodies, private sector organizations, digital rights groups, and women’s advocacy organizations.

In addition, longlisted participants will receive tailored mentorship and technical support to refine and expand their impact.

Who Can Apply

This call is open to young Nigerian innovators, startup founders, social entrepreneurs, and innovation hubs or labs currently working on digital or tech-enabled models that address risks related to online safety and digital violence.

Eligible projects should focus on solutions targeting one or more of the four key risk categories identified by UNDP:

  • Content Risks: Harmful or abusive content targeted at women and girls.
  • Contact Risks: Unwanted or exploitative digital interactions.
  • Conduct Risks: Perpetration or encouragement of harmful behavior online.
  • Contract Risks: Violations of rights or misuse of personal data in digital platforms.

Why This Matters

Digital spaces have become essential to education, employment, and social interaction. However, as more women and girls engage online, they also face rising threats — from harassment and blackmail to exploitation and misinformation. By spotlighting and strengthening youth-driven tech solutions, UNDP Nigeria aims to champion digital equality and ensure a safer, more inclusive internet for all.

This initiative reflects the UNDP’s broader mission to empower youth innovators and drive gender-responsive technology across Africa. By supporting these local changemakers, the program contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly Goal 5 on Gender Equality and Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

How to Apply

Young innovators and tech-driven startups are encouraged to submit their entries before the deadline of December 12, 2025.
