The 2025 edition is launched in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), inviting innovators worldwide to design solutions that address critical tax administration challenges in Ghana. Selected participants will join a structured development program, receive expert mentorship, and attend a fully sponsored bootcamp in Switzerland. Focus Areas of the Challenge Applicants must submit solutions addressing one of the two core challenge statements: Informal Sector Income Tax Identification and Registration E-commerce VAT Identification and Compliance These challenge areas reflect key priorities for improving tax administration and revenue mobilization, particularly in emerging economies. Eligibility Criteria The GovTech Innovation Challenge is exclusively open to early-stage startups, scale-ups, and SMEs. To qualify, applicants must: Employ fewer than 75 staff members at the time of application Have an annual revenue below $5 million USD (or equivalent) for the most recent financial year Demonstrate strong team capability and relevant experience in technology or public sector innovation Commit to active participation in the program, including data-sharing requirements Align their mission and proposed solutions with government digital transformation goals and measurable social impact outcomes Large corporations, multinationals, and subsidiaries of major corporations are not eligible to participate. Support and Benefits Selected companies will gain access to a comprehensive support framework designed to turn their ideas into functional Proof of Concept (PoC) prototypes.
