About the CAN Data Science Fellowship The Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) initiative is dedicated to cultivating Africa’s next generation of data scientists to tackle issues at the intersection of climate and health. The fellowship provides participants with immersive learning experiences, mentorship, and real-world project work to enhance their problem-solving skills in critical areas of development. The CAN Data Science Fellowship seeks individuals with a strong foundation in data science and a deep understanding of climate and health challenges across Africa. Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria: Hold a first university degree in a relevant field. Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent academic research and analysis. Possess at least three years of professional experience in data management, analysis, and visualization. Exhibit strong communication and analytical skills. Have expertise in technology, systems development, big data, open data, and data science. Be knowledgeable about climate and health issues in Africa. Be available full-time for the duration of the fellowship, including active participation in all assigned activities.
