TECA Heat Action Wave (THAW) Program (Nigeria)-Apply Now Admin, September 1, 2025September 1, 2025 Application Deadline: September 16, 2025 Nigeria is increasingly vulnerable to the devastating effects of rising temperatures, with heatwaves posing a serious threat to health, food security, and livelihoods. In response to this urgent challenge, the TECA Heat Action Wave (THAW) has been launched to support innovative early-stage ventures that can help communities prepare for, withstand, and recover from the impacts of extreme heat. Backed by BFA Global, FSD Africa, ClimateWorks Foundation, and FCDO Nigeria, the program offers a unique platform for startups and small businesses to develop bold, locally led solutions that build climate resilience across sectors. Why Heat Resilience Matters for Nigeria The climate crisis is intensifying across Africa, and Nigeria is among the countries most at risk. Extreme heat now threatens agriculture, fisheries, worker productivity, water security, and public health. Vulnerable populations—especially farmers, outdoor workers, and low-income households—are bearing the brunt of these rising temperatures. Heatwaves are not only a health emergency but also an economic challenge. Reduced productivity, supply chain disruptions, and pressure on healthcare systems are already being felt. Addressing these risks requires innovation, collaboration, and sustainable climate-smart solutions. This is where the TECA Heat Action Wave Program steps in. By empowering startups with resources, mentorship, and potential financial support, the program is creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to scale solutions that protect both people and businesses.
