Empower Your Career with Climate Action: Apply for the Carbon Literacy and Action Programme (CLAP) 2025

Admin, May 26, 2025May 26, 2025

Unlock Your Potential as a Climate Leader

Are you a young professional in Nigeria’s research or academic sector eager to drive meaningful environmental change? The Carbon Literacy and Action Programme (CLAP) offers a transformative opportunity to gain cutting-edge skills, connect with peers, and earn globally recognized credentials—all while advancing sustainability in your workplace.

Who Should Apply?

  • You’re aged 18–35 and work in (or are affiliated with) a Nigerian university, research lab, or higher education institution.
  • You’re passionate about combating climate change and want to implement practical solutions in your professional environment.
  • You’re ready to commit to a structured, interactive learning experience.

With only 50 spots available for the June–July 2025 cohort, this programme is your gateway to becoming a certified climate leader.

Why CLAP Stands Out

Developed by Youth for Sustainable Initiative (NGYouthSDGs) and Zeroverse, in collaboration with The Carbon Literacy Project (UK), CLAP is Nigeria’s premier accredited training for young professionals seeking to:

  1. Master Practical Climate Strategies
Learn to identify and reduce carbon emissions in labs, offices, or campuses through actionable tools like energy audits, waste management frameworks, and green procurement practices.
  2. Build Leadership Credibility
Strengthen your ability to advocate for sustainability, inspire colleagues, and lead institutional change—a critical skill for career growth in a climate-conscious world.
  3. Earn Global Recognition
Complete the programme and submit a Climate Action Plan to receive a Certificate of Carbon Literacy and a digital badge from The Carbon Literacy Project (UK), enhancing your resume for roles in sustainability, policy, or academia.
  4. Join a Supportive Community
Collaborate with like-minded peers, share challenges, and brainstorm solutions during live sessions and group activities.

Programme Overview: Flexibility Meets Impact

CLAP blends live workshops with self-paced learning to fit your schedule:

  • Live Zoom Sessions: Four interactive workshops (2 hours each) covering climate science, leadership, and policy.
  • Self-Paced Modules: Dive into carbon accounting, green innovation, and advocacy (~1.5 hours total).
  • Climate Action Plan: Design a tailored roadmap to cut emissions in your workplace (4 hours).
  • Certification: Earn your credential after submitting your plan and completing evaluations.

Key Requirements for Participation

To succeed in CLAP, ensure you have:

  • A laptop/desktop with a camera, microphone, and Zoom installed.
  • A stable internet connection for live sessions.
  • Time commitment: Attend all live sessions and dedicate ~8 hours to self-paced tasks.

Application Process Simplified

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm you meet the criteria (age, profession, location).
  2. Submit by May 31, 2025: Access the form here.
  3. Await Confirmation: Shortlisted candidates will receive details for the virtual orientation.

Why Nigeria Needs CLAP Graduates

As Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria faces urgent climate challenges—from energy transitions to sustainable infrastructure. Research and education institutions are pivotal to innovating solutions, yet many lack trained leaders to drive decarbonization. CLAP equips you to fill this gap, turning your workplace into a hub for climate resilience.
