Who is Eligible?

To apply, you must:

• Be a citizen of, or have refugee status in, an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
• Reside permanently in an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Have a minimum of five years’ full-time relevant work experience (voluntary work is not counted).
• Be currently employed in a professional role relevant to the fellowship and intend to return to your employer after completion.
• Provide two references—one must be from your current employer.
• Not have received a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the last five years.
• Not be applying for academic research or coursework.
• Be available to take up the fellowship at the prescribed time.

What the Fellowship Covers

Fellows will receive comprehensive financial support for the duration of their stay in the UK. The funding includes:

• Return airfare from your home country to the UK.
• Visa fee reimbursement.
• A monthly living stipend of £2,104, or £2,612 if based in London (2024/25 rates).
• Arrival allowance of up to £1,183.20, including clothing expenses.
• Up to £2,000 for short courses or conferences, approved by the host organization.
• Disability support, based on assessment (if applicable).

This package ensures that Fellows can focus fully on their development without financial barriers.

Program Duration and Structure

The duration of the fellowship varies by host organization, but all programs aim to deliver structured learning experiences. Fellows engage in projects, collaborative tasks, mentorship, and sector-specific training designed to elevate their capabilities and leadership potential.
