About the Fellowship Developed by the World Bank Development Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC), the Development Impact Group (DECDI), the Institutions Global Department, the Institute for Economic Development, and University College London (UCL), the fellowship builds on the Government Analytics Handbook and years of global research. The six-month program combines in-person training in Washington, D.C. with remote mentorship and technical guidance from senior experts. Fellows benefit from a balance of academic learning, real-world application, and hands-on project development tailored to their government institutions. Program Structure Duration: 6 months Format: Hybrid – in-person training and virtual mentorship In-person Component: Two weeks in Washington, D.C., featuring the Public Institutions Conference and the Government Analytics Course Project Work: Fellows design and implement a government analytics project with World Bank and UCL support Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet the following criteria: Employment in a central government organization (including agencies) Mid-level manager or senior analyst position with authority to design and lead a project Organizational nomination (up to 2 fellows per organization) Prior coursework in statistics or quantitative methods at the tertiary level Proficiency in English Ability to travel to Washington, D.C. for training Benefits of Participation Expertise in Data-Driven Governance: Gain advanced skills to convert government data into actionable insights for evidence-based policymaking.
