Call for Applications: UN Global Pulse Accelerator Programme 2026 — Driving Innovation Across the United Nations

Admin, January 27, 2026January 27, 2026

Application Deadline: February 11, 2026

Applications are now open for the UN Global Pulse Accelerator Programme 2026 — a unique opportunity for United Nations teams to bring bold, data-driven innovations to scale.

As the UN marks its 80th anniversary, the world faces an era of rapid technological change, climate uncertainty, and shifting global needs. The call for an agile, digital, and future-ready United Nations has never been more urgent. The Global Pulse Accelerator responds to this call by empowering UN teams to expand proven innovations that deliver real-world impact — especially in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This programme is more than a funding opportunity. It’s a gateway to transform pilot solutions into sustainable, scalable actions that improve lives across the globe. From data and digital tools to artificial intelligence and human-centered design, the Accelerator equips innovators with the mentorship, visibility, and resources needed to take their solutions to the next level.

For African and global changemakers within the UN system, this initiative represents a powerful chance to amplify local impact on a global stage.

About the UN Global Pulse Accelerator Programme

The UN Global Pulse Accelerator is a flagship initiative led by UN Global Pulse, the UN Secretary-General’s innovation lab network. Founded to harness data, digital technologies, and AI for sustainable development, UN Global Pulse works to ensure that innovation translates into measurable benefits for people and the planet.

The Accelerator supports UN-led teams in transforming innovative pilots into scalable, impactful programs. Selected participants receive customized mentorship, strategic support, and financial assistance to refine their scaling strategy and extend their reach.

Backed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the programme reflects Finland’s leadership in promoting responsible, human-centered innovation within international development. The Accelerator also aligns with the UN’s “UN80 priorities,” emphasizing effectiveness, inclusivity, and the global pledge to “leave no one behind.”

 What Selected Teams Receive

Successful applicants to the UN Global Pulse Accelerator Programme 2026 will benefit from a comprehensive package designed to maximize innovation success.

Selected teams will receive:

  • Seed funding to implement scaling strategies for their innovations.
  • Tailored mentorship from innovation and sustainability experts.
  • Fully-funded participation in an in-person workshop in Finland (June 8–12, 2026) for up to three team members.
  • Strategic guidance on how to integrate innovations across UN operations.
  • Visibility and recognition within the global UN innovation ecosystem.
  • Networking opportunities with other innovators, private sector leaders, and government partners.

The Accelerator offers an invaluable platform for learning, collaboration, and global exposure — empowering teams to strengthen their solutions and expand their reach.

  • Demonstrate how data, digital technologies, or AI are integrated as enablers.
  • Address one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Incorporate human rights, gender equality, diversity, and inclusion into their design and implementation.
  • Show a human-centered, co-creation approach involving key stakeholders.

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • Address challenges in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
  • Demonstrate organizational readiness and leadership support.
  • Have established partnerships with private sector actors, government agencies, or local institutions.

This programme is open to teams from across the UN family — including specialized agencies, funds, and programs — who are passionate about scaling solutions that make a measurable difference.
