The program offers an opportunity for outstanding secondary school students across Africa to develop their leadership potential, build essential academic skills, and gain guidance on university admissions and financial aid processes. YYAS provides two distinctive learning experiences: an Online College Prep Workshop and a Residential Leadership Summit in Kenya. Each program is tuition-free, ensuring equitable access for talented students from all backgrounds. Selected participants will also have the chance to be considered for a Travel Grant to attend the in-person summit in Kenya. Program Overview 1. YYAS Online College Prep Workshop (16 – 21 July 2026)The six-day online workshop connects approximately 240 students across Africa for a comprehensive university readiness program. Through virtual sessions, participants explore career pathways, strengthen academic writing, and prepare for the university application process. The curriculum emphasizes time management, critical thinking, and cross-cultural collaboration. Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive a YYAS Certificate of Completion, which can be added to university applications. 2. YYAS Residential Leadership Summit (8 – 16 August 2026, Kenya)The nine-day in-person summit brings together 110 exceptional students from across the continent for an immersive residential experience. Hosted on a Kenyan campus, the summit blends college preparation with hands-on leadership development, innovation training, and 21st-century skill-building. It fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and global citizenship among Africa’s brightest young minds. The summit is completely tuition-free and provides free housing, meals, and academic materials. Need-based travel grants are also available to support admitted students living outside Kenya, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder participation. Language: Proficiency in English to fully engage in an academic environment. Citizenship: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of an African country. Refugees residing in Africa are also eligible. Education: Currently enrolled in a secondary school within an African country. Grade Level: Must be in 10th or 11th grade (or equivalent). Graduation Date: Northern Hemisphere schools: graduating between May/June 2027 and May/June 2028. Southern Hemisphere schools: graduating between November/December 2026 and November/December 2027. Application Requirements Applicants are required to submit: Completed Online Application Form – including one 500-word essay, two short responses, and details of extracurricular activities. Official Transcript or Grade Reports – covering all years of secondary school (equivalent to grades 9–11). If the student has changed schools, transcripts from both institutions are required. Teacher Recommendation – submitted via the online recommendation form sent to the teacher’s email. Recommendations from family members or private tutors are not accepted.
