About the Lafarge Africa Technical Skills Development Program

The Lafarge TSDP is a flagship youth empowerment program committed to building the next generation of skilled Nigerian technicians and engineers. Through a structured combination of classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and field exposure, participants receive comprehensive training in both maintenance and cement production processes.

The program runs for 18 months and is completely tuition-free, ensuring that qualified young Nigerians can access high-quality technical education regardless of financial background. Participants will also receive a stipend to cover basic expenses during the training period.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded the Lafarge Internal Certificate, a recognized credential that enhances employability in Nigeria’s growing industrial and manufacturing space.

Program Disciplines

The Lafarge Technical Skills Development Program covers two major technical areas that reflect the core of Lafarge’s operations and Nigeria’s industrial needs:

  1. Maintenance Processes
    This track focuses on the essential aspects of equipment maintenance and repair, including:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Instrumentation and automation
    • Welding and fabrication technology
    Trainees will gain deep, practical understanding of how to maintain and optimize production machinery — skills that are vital in cement production, oil and gas, and broader manufacturing industries.
  2. Cement Manufacturing Processes
    This track provides an overview of the entire cement production process, from raw material preparation to finished product packaging.
    Training modules include:
    • Production process management
    • Quality assurance and control
    • Process optimization and sustainability practices

These technical disciplines are designed to equip participants with the competence and confidence to work in industrial environments or set up independent technical service enterprises.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Lafarge Africa Technical Skills Development Program 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Completion of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from a recognized institution.
  • O’Level Requirements: Minimum of five (5) credits, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other relevant subject, obtained in no more than two sittings.
  • Age and Motivation: Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in technical careers and a willingness to undergo intensive training.
