The KWI International Fellowship Programme invites applications from exceptional scholars worldwide. KWI Fellowship

 KWI Fellowship Programme is a highly selective and well-funded opportunity aimed at more experienced postdoctoral researchers. This fellowship targets scholars who have completed their PhD and accrued several years of postdoctoral experience, with a proven track record of high-quality academic work.

KWI Fellows will likewise be hosted for six months (from 1 April to 30 September 2026) and are expected to contribute research that fits within KWI’s interdisciplinary agenda. Strong preference is given to international scholars and German nationals with established international networks and research affiliations.

Who Should Apply?

Eligible candidates for both fellowship tracks must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a PhD in humanities, social sciences, or cultural studies
• Demonstrate postdoctoral experience (up to six years for the International Fellowship; several years for Thyssen@KWI)
• Propose a research project aligned with KWI’s scholarly priorities
• Possess a strong academic publication record
• Have international research interests or experience (especially important for German applicants)
