The 2025 Global Citizen and PayPal Small Business Impact Awards are now open for applications. This annual initiative recognizes and supports small business owners and social entrepreneurs whose work delivers measurable community impact, sustainability, and social change.

The program will award five outstanding entrepreneurs with $25,000 USD each, along with expert mentorship, business insights, marketing exposure, and access to high-impact training sessions.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the 2025 Small Business Impact Awards, applicants must:

  • Be the founder, CEO, or primary decision-maker of the business
  • Own or lead a registered small or medium-sized business
  • Have fewer than 50 full-time employees or earn less than $1 million annually
  • Operate a business that has been in existence for at least three years
  • Be able to demonstrate real, measurable contributions to their local community, including:
    • Creating employment or training opportunities
    • Supporting local development projects
    • Adopting sustainable business practices
    • Collaborating with local causes or nonprofit initiatives
  • Operate independently (not a franchise or affiliated with any sanctioned entity)
  • Serve a community-based mission within a local or regional context

The program focuses on businesses that drive impact through innovative, inclusive, and purpose-led operations.

Application Process

Applicants will be required to submit:

  • Personal and business information
  • A 1–2 minute pitch video describing their business and community impact
  • Written responses to four brief questions (up to 250 words each) about their values, operations, and alignment with the program’s goals
  • Additional organizational details or documentation, if requested

Selected winners will also be invited to a specialized strategy session with Global Citizen’s internal teams, focusing on impact storytelling, marketing, and social transformation strategies.
