The Crest Research and Development Institute (CRADI) is now accepting proposals for its Small Grants Program, designed to support local responses based on findings from the Multisectoral Needs Assessment (MSNA). This initiative focuses on addressing immediate humanitarian gaps while promoting long-term community resilience in conflict-affected areas of Nigeria.

CRADI is a Pan-African, independent, non-profit research institute committed to enhancing human development through evidence-based research, human capital investment, and developmental aid.

About the Small Grants Program

This funding opportunity targets registered local NGOs in Nigeria that have a track record of implementing community-based programs. Successful applicants will receive up to $1,000 per organization to deliver short-term, high-impact projects aligned with MSNA priorities.

Grant Highlights:

  • Funding Size: Up to $1,000 per project
  • Project Duration: 3–6 months (starting July 1, 2025)

  • Eligible Applicants: Registered local NGOs with implementation capacity

Thematic Focus Areas

Applicants must design projects that directly align with one or more of the following MSNA-prioritized sectors:

1. Security and Governance

  • Enhance community policing to foster trust between citizens and law enforcement.
  • Strengthen traditional governance institutions with tools for conflict resolution.
  • Promote peacebuilding and social cohesion through disarmament and reintegration programs in conflict zones.

2. Food Security and Livelihoods

  • Deliver emergency food support to food-insecure households, especially in Mangu and Bassa.
  • Restore agricultural production via seed distribution, livestock provision, and farmer cooperatives.
  • Rehabilitate local markets and improve transport infrastructure to boost economic recovery.

3. Health and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)

  • Reconstruct and equip health centers in Bassa, Bokkos, and Mangu, with a focus on maternal and child health.
  • Operate mobile clinics for displaced and remote communities during facility upgrades.
  • Improve access to safe water and sanitation in Riyom and Mangu.
  • Expand nutrition services for malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women in Mangu and Bokkos.

4. Protection and Human Rights

  • Provide mobile legal aid and psychosocial support for victims of trauma, including survivors of sexual violence.
  • Establish gender-based violence (GBV) prevention systems, including safe spaces for women and girls.
  • Offer protection services to internally displaced persons (IDPs), including shelter, health services, and documentation support.

5. Education

  • Rebuild damaged schools in Bokkos, Mangu, and Riyom, and provide learning materials.
  • Support families financially to keep children in school amidst economic hardship.
  • Train teachers in trauma-informed education to better serve students affected by conflict.
  • Integrate psychosocial support and mental health programs in school curricula.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for funding, applicants must:

  • Be a registered local NGO operating in Nigeria.
  • Demonstrate alignment with one or more MSNA-recommended focus areas.
  • Show capacity to implement the project within the 3–6 month timeline.
  • Present innovative and community-responsive solutions, particularly in conflict-impacted regions.

Preference will be given to organizations that exhibit contextual understanding and the ability to adapt solutions to local needs.
